We study theoretically and empirically the impact of
macroeconomic factors on bank profits and bank stock returns.
Substitution and
complementarities among different classes of securities.
Joint with Fabrizio Casalin (University of Newcastle)
We study empirically primary placements of shares and bonds together
with new issuance of industrial loans. Preliminary results suggest
that bond and stock issuance are complementary, while bonds and
loans are substitutes.
Why Don’t Capital
Markets Provide Reinsurance for Catastrophic Risks? A Stylised
Model of Customer Relationships in Reinsurance
Joint with
John Lewis ( De Nederlandsche Bank) The goal of this paper is to
formulate an account of how reinsurance markets work, to try to
explain some of it puzzling features.
